TAMPA, Fla. – A man remains in critical condition at a local hospital after a vehicle struck him early Thursday morning near the intersection of West Arch Street and North Boulevard.
Tampa Police officers arrived at the scene shortly after 7:00 a.m. and discovered the injured pedestrian lying in the roadway. Emergency medical personnel transported him to the hospital, where he continued to receive treatment in critical condition throughout the day.
Investigators determined that a woman driving a 2015 Toyota Corolla traveled east on West Arch Street and attempted a left turn to head north onto North Boulevard. As she executed the turn, the vehicle struck the man while he crossed the northbound lanes of North Boulevard.
The driver remained at the scene and cooperated with responding officers. Police confirmed that neither excessive speed nor impairment contributed to the collision. Authorities subsequently issued her a citation for failing to yield to a pedestrian.
Officers have not yet identified the injured man. Investigators urge anyone who recognizes him or witnessed the incident to contact the Tampa Police Department at 813-231-6130 and reference case number 26-569378.
Authorities closed North Boulevard between West Arch Street and West Cypress Street while crash investigators processed the scene. The roadway has since reopened to traffic, and police pledged to release additional information as the investigation progresses.
