A 20-year-old man has been apprehended in connection with the Friday night shooting.
According to the Orangeburg County Sheriff’s Office Facebook page, deputies were dispatched to Charleston Highway and Woodbine Drive soon after 9 p.m. after receiving reports of a crash alert.
Police reported that gunfire struck a 23-year-old male, leading to the crash, and he later succumbed to his injuries.
The Orangeburg County Sheriff’s Office has identified the 20-year-old detainee as JaShawn Marque Demond Johnson from Orangeburg, South Carolina.
Johnson is charged with murder and possession of a weapon during the commission of a violent crime.
