According to local law enforcement, a “neighbor from hell” has been apprehended in Florida.
Deputies from the Flagler County Sheriff’s Office arrested 58-year-old Charles Bowden of Palm Coast on many charges after he punched a hole in his neighbor’s wall and threatened him repeatedly.
Local deputies rushed to a duplex in Palm Coast’s B-Section after the victim claimed that Bowden was actively breaking through the wall between the units. According to the victim, Bowden was busting through the wall with a hammer and power tools while hurling threats at her.
When deputies arrived, the victim shared an audio clip of the event in which Bowden was heard laughing, calling the victim names, and making threats such as “I’m going to be crawling through the walls and figure out ways to make your life hell,” according to local law officials. Deputies could also hear hammering and power tools in the background.
While at the property, deputies discovered a softball-sized hole in the wall between the two units.
Deputies attempted to reach Bowden, who refused to speak and instead hurled a bag out the upper window at them. Bowden then refused to leave the house for almost an hour and a half, until deputies were able to make phone contact with him and persuade him to step outside. Deputies arrested Bowden when he left the house.
Inside Bowden’s home, deputies discovered a hammer and an electric string trimmer, both smeared in drywall residue, near the wall hole.
“Talk about a neighbor from hell,” said Sheriff Rick Staly. “Nobody should feel threatened while in the safety of their own home, and I am grateful that our deputies arrived quickly and that this incident did not escalate beyond a hole in the wall.” Now this guy is seated in the Green Roof Inn, surrounded by walls that he will be unable to break past.”
Deputies arrested Bowden on charges of aggravated assault with a dangerous weapon and burglary with assault or battery. He was sent to Sheriff Perry Hall’s Inmate Detention Facility.
