Portsmouth man sentenced to prison for drug trafficking

Moses Elijah Williams, 40, was sentenced to prison for possessing cocaine with the intent to distribute and possessing a handgun in connection with a narcotics trafficking felony.

In September 2025, Suffolk police made four controlled drug transactions from Williams at his Portsmouth home. These narcotics included cocaine and heroin. In August and September 2025, Chesapeake Police made several controlled purchases of drugs from Williams.

Chesapeake police later investigated Williams’ home and discovered a kilogram of cocaine, as well as smaller amounts of methamphetamine, heroin, cocaine base, and digital scales. A semiautomatic rifle and a handgun were also found.

Williams was a previously convicted felon at the time of the incident and was not permitted to possess a firearm or ammunition.

He was condemned to ten years.
