Woman taken into custody in Augusta domestic shooting

One man was injured and a woman taken into custody after a shooting Sunday evening. It happened around 5 p.m.

Deputies with the Richmond County Sheriff’s Office rushed to the 300 block of Williamsburg Drive after receiving reports of shots fired, with one person injured.

When they arrived, deputies discovered a domestic quarrel between a man and a woman. During the confrontation, the woman allegedly discharged a weapon and struck the man.

The person was transported to a local hospital for medical care. His injuries are not believed to be life-threatening.

The female suspect, Adreanna Bottoms of Hephzibah, was apprehended at the spot without incident. Investigators from the Criminal Investigation Division were alerted and responded to continue the investigation.

Bottoms has been charged with aggravated assault and possession of a firearm while committing a crime.

Bottoms was booked in the Charles B. Webster Detention Center.

The investigation is underway.
