A drug dealer arrested earlier this year with 75 pounds of fentanyl powder was sentenced to seven years in prison last Tuesday, according to the Arizona Attorney General’s Office.
Jose Soto-Olguin pled guilty to drug trafficking charges following an investigation that resulted in the recovery of the powder and one kilogram of heroin, according to authorities.
The inquiry, which began on January 27, involved the Attorney General’s Office, the Phoenix Police Department, and the Drug Enforcement Administration.
After knowing that Soto-Olguin would receive a huge consignment of illegal substances, investigators set up monitoring. They observed as another individual handed Soto-Olgiun a massive tire, which he battled to place into the rear of his truck.
Authorities then pulled him over, and a police K-9 detected cocaine in the tire. Investigators discovered the fentanyl powder inside.
A search of Soto-Olguin’s flat revealed heroin and evidence of drug transactions.
In addition to the seven-year prison sentence, he was ordered to pay around $9,000 in drug fines and forfeit his interest in the vehicle he used for drug trafficking.
