Pinellas County Traffic Alert: Road Work and Lane Closures Set for Oct. 11‑17

Drivers across Pinellas County should brace for slower traffic next week as state transportation crews tackle roadwork on several key corridors. The Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) District 7 has scheduled lane closures from Oct. 11 through Oct. 17, 2026, featuring overnight shifts, daytime operations, and a handful of ongoing long‑term projects.

Overnight commuters on U.S. 19 can expect disruptions between State Road 580 (Main Street) and State Road 586 (Curlew Road). Crews will shut down lanes each night from Sunday, Oct. 11, to Thursday, Oct. 15, between 8 p.m. and 6 a.m.

In Clearwater, nighttime closures will also affect State Road 60 (Court Street) at Ewing Avenue. Lanes will be closed from 9 p.m. to 6 a.m., starting Sunday night and wrapping up Thursday morning, Oct. 15.

Eastbound 62nd Avenue North near the I‑275 overpass will face overnight lane restrictions Sunday through Thursday, 8 p.m. to 5:30 a.m. Meanwhile, the right lane in each direction at the same spot will remain closed around the clock through roughly December 2026.

Daytime travelers should watch for several work zones beginning Monday, Oct. 12, and lasting through Friday, Oct. 16. On State Road 687 (4th Street North), lanes will close between State Road 694 (Gandy Boulevard) and I‑275 from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m.

State Road 682 (Pinellas Bayway) will see daily lane closures during those same hours at two locations: at Dolphin Cay Lane/Landings Drive and from that intersection out to the Pinellas Bayway Toll Plaza.

Nearby, on State Road 694 (Park Boulevard) at 60th Street, crews will close lanes from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Friday.

FDOT also reminded motorists of two 24‑hour projects that will continue through late 2026. Eastbound State Road 586 (Curlew Road) remains closed between McMullen Booth Road and Tampa Road, while the 62nd Avenue South bridge over the Maximo Channel operates with a temporary traffic signal to manage two‑way flow across the span.
