Kratom and nitrous oxide overdose takes life of 2‑year‑old; Georgia parents charged with murder

Two parents are now behind bars, charged with second-degree murder after investigators concluded their 2‑year‑old daughter died from a kratom and nitrous‑oxide overdose.

On May 3, Conyers police responded to a home where a toddler, Naveah Wynn, was unresponsive. First responders whisked her to a nearby hospital, where doctors later pronounced her dead.

Detectives launched an investigation and secured a search warrant for the family’s residence. During the sweep, they reportedly found used nitrous‑oxide canisters and an empty container that once held kratom capsules.

A toxicology test later detected both substances in the toddler’s system. The medical examiner ruled the cause of death an acute drug overdose, prompting police to classify the case as a homicide.

Authorities nabbed the toddler’s father, 30‑year‑old Rafael Pedron Wynn, and her mother, 28‑year‑old Kerri Dysart, on Sept. 24. On Oct. 1, police confirmed both were charged with second‑degree murder.

Local media reports indicate that Pedron Wynn and Dysart remain in custody without bond.
