HILLSBOROUGH COUNTY, Fla. , A late‑night traffic stop on North U.S. Highway 301 turned into a drug bust when sheriff’s deputies uncovered homemade fentanyl pills masquerading as prescription meds, officials said.

Deputies from the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office pulled over a car cruising at 90 mph in a 50‑mph zone around 11:30 p.m. on October 8, 2026.

With probable cause in hand, they searched the vehicle and found fentanyl pills crafted to look like Xanax and other prescriptions.

The search also turned up synthetic cannabinoids, commonly called “spice”,as well as THC oil, wax, and several bottles of legitimate prescription medication.

Officers took the driver, 23‑year‑old Tosha Cisco, and the passenger, 30‑year‑old Dillon Peterson, into custody. Both now face criminal charges tied to the traffic stop and the seized narcotics.
