A 30-year-old Tennessee mother faces many charges after allegedly driving off a cliff with her two young children in the vehicle.
On Monday, Oct. 12, authorities arrested Chase Ryan Klinedinst on an outstanding warrant for DUI, vehicular assault, and two counts of child neglect.
The incident occurred around 8:30 p.m. on September 7 in Chattanooga. According to an arrest affidavit, Klinedinst was driving down Stuart Street until the road dead-ended. She then continued down a dirt road and over the side of Coffey’s Cliff, falling 20 to 25 feet.
The truck landed upside down near some train tracks. Both youngsters were buckled into their safety seats when first responders arrived. One child sustained a shattered forearm and pulmonary contusions.
Investigators investigated the wreckage and discovered an empty wine bottle and an unopened wine bottle in the passenger section. According to the affidavit, Klinedinst smelled of alcohol, had slurred speech, and acted aggressively with emergency medics on the scene.
In the affidavit, cops stated that “Klinedinst’s ability to operate a motor vehicle was extremely impaired and was a major contributing factor in the crash.”
