A 57-year-old man was arrested after leading authorities on a police chase in Coos Bay while deputies were investigating a restraining order violation.

According to the Coos County Sheriff’s Office, deputies were responding to a restraining order investigation on the 6300 block of Third Road on March 2 when John E. Bailey arrived at the scene in a pickup truck.

Authorities said Bailey resisted arrest and fled, triggering a pursuit through Bunker Hill, Coos Bay and North Bend. The chase ended on Wildwood Road after officers from the North Bend Police Department and Oregon State Police assisted by deploying spike strips.

Bailey was taken into custody following the pursuit. Jail records show he remained in the Coos County Jail as of March 4.

Officials said they appreciated the assistance from the partnering agencies and the North Coos Dispatch Center for their coordination during the incident.
