A former employee of Gotcha Burger has been arrested following an investigation into stolen business checks, according to the Eugene Police Department.

Police say 32-year-old Forrest Jedidiah Barrios of Veneta allegedly cashed payroll checks made out to himself and was connected to several missing checks from the restaurant.

Authorities said the business owner confronted Barrios about the issue, but he denied any involvement and left the restaurant.

A detective with the Eugene Police Property and Financial Crimes Unit later gathered enough evidence to charge Barrios with 11 offenses, including identity theft, forgery and first-degree theft.

Officers arrested Barrios on March 3 near West 6th Avenue and Adams Street. He was then taken to the Lane County Jail.
