A new $2.53 million outdoor sports facility featuring tennis and pickleball courts has officially opened in Roseburg, quickly becoming a gathering place for community members and athletes.
Local leaders and residents say the facility is expected to strengthen community involvement in sports and provide new opportunities for players of all ages.
Jeremy Root, director of tennis at the Umpqua Valley Tennis Center, said the new courts are an exciting addition for the area and a major step forward for local athletics.
Since opening, the courts have already hosted community activities, including participation from athletes involved with the Special Olympics in Douglas County.
