A 21-year-old man is recovering after being struck by a vehicle in Roseburg, while another man now faces multiple criminal charges in connection with the incident.
According to court records, Dennis Ray Fain called 911 to report a pedestrian lying in the turn lane near Highway 42 and Grant Smith Road. He initially told dispatchers he was a passenger and claimed the driver — described as a blonde woman wearing a purple shirt — fled the scene on foot.
However, witnesses told deputies from the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office that Fain was the only person seen exiting the vehicle, and he reportedly got out from the driver’s seat.
Investigators say Fain later admitted to using methamphetamine earlier that day and did not pass field sobriety tests administered at the scene.
He is now facing several charges, including driving under the influence of intoxicants (DUII), vehicular assault, and drug possession.
The injured pedestrian continues to recover as the case moves forward.
