A former school administrator linked to Columbia County has been sentenced to more than five years in prison after being convicted in a child exploitation case.
Jeremy P. Williams, 50, was ordered to serve five years and one month in state prison following charges related to the possession and distribution of illegal images involving minors. The sentencing took place in Cowlitz County.
Williams previously served as principal of Rainier Junior/Senior High School in Rainier before his arrest in September. At the time, he had already been placed on administrative leave due to controversial remarks about Charlie Kirk, who had recently been killed.
Investigation and arrest details
Authorities said the case began after online monitoring systems flagged suspicious activity linked to an internet account associated with Williams. Investigators later confirmed that illegal material had been shared through the account.
Officials clarified there was no evidence indicating that any students from the school were involved in the case.
Williams appeared in court in February, where he issued a brief apology before sentencing.
Court ruling and penalties
Thad Scudder, a judge in Cowlitz County Superior Court, handed down the sentence, which includes:
-
More than five years in prison
-
Mandatory registration as a sex offender
-
Payment of $3,000 in court fines
-
Three years of post-release supervision
Williams had worked as a principal since 2022 and later retired from his position in November.
Community impact
The case has drawn attention due to Williams’ role in education and the seriousness of the charges. The Rainier School District, which serves hundreds of students, has not reported any direct connection between the case and its student population.
