A teenager in Eugene is facing multiple charges after crashing and rolling a vehicle down an embankment at Skinner Butte late Wednesday night.

Crash After Speeding and Swerving

According to police, the incident happened around 9 p.m. when an officer spotted a silver Honda Civic speeding and swerving while heading up Skinner Butte Loop.

Authorities say the driver lost control of the car, causing it to overturn multiple times before coming to rest down an embankment. The vehicle sustained heavy damage, including a shattered windshield and deployed airbags.

Driver Found Hiding Nearby

When the officer reached the crash site, the driver was initially missing. After searching the area, police located the teen hiding in nearby brush downhill from the wreck.

Investigators believe the driver was impaired at the time of the crash.

Injuries and Charges

The teen was taken to a hospital with injuries that were not considered life-threatening.

Police have filed several charges, including:

  • Driving under the influence
  • Reckless driving
  • Failure to perform the duties of a driver
