Crash Reported on Libby Lane in Coos Bay
A 24-year-old woman from Coos Bay has been cited following a hit-and-run crash that involved an off-duty police officer and his family, according to the Coos County Sheriff’s Office.
The incident occurred around 3:20 p.m. on April 12 on Libby Lane, prompting an investigation by local deputies.
Suspect Vehicle Located With Visible Damage
Deputies later located the suspect vehicle on South Barview Lane. Authorities reported that both vehicles involved in the crash showed visible damage.
The driver was identified as Crystal Jean Walter, who allegedly displayed signs of impairment during the investigation.
DUII Arrest and Additional Charges Under Review
Following further evaluation, deputies arrested Walter on suspicion of driving under the influence of intoxicants (DUII).
Officials also confirmed that additional charges are being considered, including:
- Failure to perform the duties of a driver (hit-and-run)
- Reckless endangering
These charges have been forwarded to the district attorney’s office for review.
No Injuries Reported in Incident
Authorities stated that no one was injured in the crash. The off-duty officer and their family members were unharmed.
Walter was issued a criminal citation and is expected to appear in court at a later date.
