A man from Dexter was arrested after deputies tracked him down following a crash and brief chase, according to the Lane County Sheriff’s Office.
Authorities said James Lawrence Gehrman, 55, fled the scene of a head-on crash on Eagles Rest Road on February 27 in his damaged vehicle. Officials reported that Gehrman drove away before deputies arrived.
A Bureau of Land Management ranger later spotted Gehrman several miles away. Deputies, along with K9 Ripp, were dispatched to the area and located him hiding in a nearby forest.
Gehrman initially resisted but eventually surrendered without further incident. He now faces several charges, including failing to perform the duties of a driver, disorderly conduct and being a felon in possession of a restricted weapon.
Authorities said Gehrman was taken into custody and booked into the Lane County Jail following the arrest.
