A 22-year-old man was arrested early Wednesday morning after a crash in Eugene that escalated into a struggle with police and left two officers injured.

According to the Eugene Police Department, Logan Keona-Rayne Whitney was involved in a crash near Morning View and Garfield around 2:34 a.m. on March 4. An officer spotted Whitney’s Toyota Corolla and attempted to conduct a traffic stop.

Police said Whitney resisted arrest and started driving the vehicle while the officer was still inside. During the confrontation, the officer used a Taser to subdue Whitney after he allegedly tried to grab the device. Authorities said Whitney continued pressing the gas pedal, prompting another officer to stop the car by pinning it with a patrol vehicle.

Whitney was eventually taken into custody and transported to a local hospital for evaluation before being booked into the Lane County Jail.

He faces multiple charges, including DUII, reckless driving and second-degree kidnapping. Jail records show he remained in custody as of March 4.

Two officers were injured during the incident and were treated and released from a local hospital.
