One dead in multi-vehicle crash at Gresham intersection

On This Post

One person died and several others were injured in a crash involving two vehicles Friday night in Gresham, Oregon, authorities said.

The crash occurred shortly after 7 p.m. at the intersection of East Burnside Street and Southeast Stark Street, according to the Gresham Police Department. Initial reports described a three-car crash, but investigators later confirmed only two vehicles were involved.

Police and crews from Gresham Fire Department responded to the scene along with multiple ambulances.

In the first vehicle, the front-seat passenger was pronounced dead. The driver was injured and taken to a hospital, though officials have not released details about their condition. A child under the age of 2 who was also in the vehicle suffered minor injuries and was transported to a hospital, where police said the child is expected to recover.

The second vehicle involved in the crash had two occupants, neither of whom were injured.

Investigators said early evidence suggests speed may have been a factor in the crash, but the investigation remains ongoing.

The crash temporarily disrupted nearby service on the TriMet MAX Light Rail, which runs through the intersection. Authorities said the area was closed while crews responded and investigators examined the scene.
