A man has been arrested after a woman was stabbed during a robbery inside a restaurant in Portland on Saturday afternoon, according to police.
Officers from the Portland Police Bureau responded to a stabbing report around 12:27 p.m. in the 400 block of Northeast Hassalo Street.
When officers arrived, they encountered 42-year-old Elias L. Lavelle standing in a doorway holding a knife. Police said he complied with commands and was taken into custody.
Investigators found a female customer inside the restaurant with serious knife injuries. Authorities said her injuries were not life-threatening, and she declined transportation to a hospital after receiving treatment at the scene.
Police recovered a knife believed to have been used in the attack as evidence. According to investigators, the woman was injured during a robbery involving a restaurant employee.
Lavelle was booked into the Multnomah County Detention Center and faces several charges, including second-degree attempted murder, first-degree assault, unlawful use of a weapon and first-degree robbery.
The investigation is ongoing, and police are asking anyone with information to contact the Major Crimes Unit.
