Police in Eugene, Oregon say a drug investigation resulted in the arrest of two people and the seizure of fentanyl, cash and firearms.

According to the Eugene Police Department, officers with the agency’s Street Crimes Unit were conducting a narcotics investigation when they observed a meeting between Reilly Quinn Slater and Danitza Guadalupe Morales.

Investigators believe Slater was involved in local fentanyl distribution.

Drugs, cash and weapons recovered

Police said Morales was found carrying about 5.2 ounces of fentanyl along with nearly $4,900 in cash.

Authorities reported that Slater possessed approximately 4.5 ounces of fentanyl, more than $300 in cash, as well as drug scales and packaging materials commonly used in narcotics distribution.

Officers also recovered two loaded handguns from Slater during the investigation.

Total fentanyl seized

In total, police confiscated about 9.7 ounces of fentanyl, which authorities say represents a substantial quantity of the dangerous synthetic opioid and could carry a high street value.

Further details about potential charges were not immediately released.
