A student at the University of Oregon is facing multiple felony charges after authorities say another student reported being sexually assaulted in a campus dorm room.
Police arrested Lukas Jaramillo, 19, a resident of Lake Oswego, in connection with the incident.
According to the Lane County District Attorney’s Office, Jaramillo initially faced charges of first-degree rape and first-degree sexual abuse. Prosecutors later added an additional second-degree sexual abuse charge as the investigation continues.
Allegations outlined in court documents
Details from a search warrant affidavit filed in Lane County Circuit Court state that the alleged victim went to Jaramillo’s dorm room on Feb. 20 after being invited to drink alcohol.
Investigators say the student declined his attempt to initiate sexual activity and repeatedly told him no. Despite the refusals, authorities allege the assault continued.
Police interview and ongoing investigation
Court documents indicate that during a police interview, Jaramillo allegedly acknowledged hearing the student refuse but claimed alcohol consumption meant neither person could consent.
Investigators also noted he reportedly told officers the student appeared upset when leaving the room, blocked him on her phone and declined his offer to walk her home.
Authorities say the case remains under active investigation as detectives continue gathering evidence.
