A suspect in Coos Bay was taken into custody after reportedly attempting to flee from law enforcement and later being found in possession of methamphetamine, authorities said.
According to the Coos County Sheriff’s Office, the incident occurred on March 12 at approximately 5:15 p.m. Deputies initially encountered 58-year-old Robert V. Mayea on Greenacres Lane, where he was allegedly violating a restraining order.
Officials said Mayea tried to escape on foot but was later located hiding beneath a trailer. He was discovered by a sheriff’s deputy along with assistance from a Coquille Tribal Police officer.
During a search, authorities reported finding methamphetamine in his possession.
Mayea was arrested and transported to the Coos County Jail, where he faces charges related to violating a restraining order and unlawful drug possession. Jail records indicate he remained in custody as of March 16.
The case remains under investigation.
