A man has died days after being shot at a motel in Portland, marking the city’s third homicide of 2026, according to authorities.

Police identified the victim as Robert Mikel Lambert, 50. He was shot just before 3 a.m. on March 5 at a motel located along Northeast Sandy Boulevard. Lambert was taken to a nearby hospital, where he later succumbed to his injuries on March 12.

Officers responding to the scene arrested Pryce Lampkin, 40, in connection with the shooting. Due to the severity of the victim’s condition, homicide detectives were called in to assist with the investigation.

The medical examiner later confirmed Lambert’s death was a homicide caused by a gunshot wound.

Lampkin is currently being held at the Multnomah County Detention Center. A grand jury has indicted him on charges including attempted murder, assault, and unlawful use of a weapon. Authorities say additional charges are expected following the victim’s death.

Officials noted that this case marks Portland’s third homicide this year. Earlier incidents include a fatal shooting involving a teenager in January and a police shooting in February.

The investigation remains ongoing.
