A 51-year-old Portland man has been arrested in connection with a series of violent incidents, including assaults on two women and a shooting earlier this month, authorities said.

The Portland Police Bureau identified the suspect as Anthony Richardson. He is currently being held at the Multnomah County Detention Center and faces charges including attempted murder, unlawful use of a firearm and possession of a firearm by a felon.

Police said the incidents occurred on March 17 near an apartment complex on Southeast Ash Street. Investigators allege that Richardson carried out unprovoked attacks on two women in the area.

According to authorities, the situation escalated when Richardson became involved in a confrontation with a group of people. He then reportedly returned to his apartment, retrieved a firearm and fired multiple shots at the group.

No injuries were reported in the shooting.

Detectives later identified Richardson as the suspect, stating that he deliberately targeted multiple individuals and also made threats against law enforcement.

Officers executed a search warrant at his residence on Friday, where they recovered a firearm believed to have been used in the incident before taking him into custody.

The investigation remains ongoing.
