A man accused of causing widespread damage in a residential neighborhood was arrested after an extensive police search involving aerial and ground units in Happy Valley.

Authorities identified the suspect as Christopher M. Kartzmark, 40, of Hillsboro.

He faces multiple charges, including:

According to the Portland Police Bureau, the incident began around 8:45 p.m. in a neighborhood on Southeast Equestrian Drive.

Police say Kartzmark used a metal pole to:

  • Damage fences
  • Break vehicle parts

Attempted Break-In and Manhunt

After multiple residents called 911, officers arrived at the scene, prompting the suspect to flee through nearby backyards.

Investigators say he then attempted to break into another home but was unsuccessful.

This triggered a large-scale search operation involving:

  • 🐕 K-9 tracking units
  • 🚁 Police drones

Authorities were ultimately able to locate and arrest him.

Court records show Kartzmark has a history of similar offenses, including:

  • A prior conviction for disorderly conduct
  • A 2022 burglary conviction involving property damage inside a home
