Louisiana Mass Shooting Leaves 8 Children Dead in Shreveport Domestic Violence Attack, Police Say

SHREVEPORT, LOUISIANA — Eight children were killed and several others injured in a mass shooting tied to a domestic violence incident at multiple locations in Shreveport early Sunday morning, according to police.

Authorities said the shooting unfolded across two homes and a third nearby location, creating what officials described as an “extensive scene” spanning several blocks south of downtown Shreveport. In total, 10 people were shot, with victims ranging in age from 1 to approximately 14 years old.

“This is an extensive scene unlike anything most of us have ever seen,” said Chris Bordelon, spokesperson for the Shreveport Police Department.

Police confirmed that some of the children were related to the suspect, though the exact relationships and identities have not been fully released. Investigators believe the incident began as a domestic disturbance before escalating into multiple shootings.

Suspect Killed After Police Pursuit

According to officials, the gunman fled the scene after the shootings and stole a vehicle while escaping. A police pursuit followed, ending in nearby Bossier City. During the chase, officers opened fire on the suspect, who later died, authorities said.

The suspect has not been publicly identified, but police confirmed he was an adult male.

Multiple Crime Scenes Under Investigation

Law enforcement continues to process evidence from several locations tied to the incident, including two residential homes and a third site connected to the suspect’s escape route.

Residents near one of the homes reported hearing gunfire and witnessing the aftermath. One neighbor said a home security camera captured the suspect running from the scene shortly after shots were fired.

Authorities also reported finding evidence indicating the suspect may have been familiar with the victims and had been at the residence days before the attack.

Officials Call Scene One of the Worst in City History

Shreveport police and city leaders described the shooting as one of the most devastating incidents the community has faced.

“I just don’t know what to say. My heart is just taken aback,” said Police Chief Wayne Smith. “I cannot begin to imagine how such an event could occur.”

Mayor Tom Arceneaux also expressed shock, calling it a “terrible morning” and urging the community to support affected families as investigations continue.

State Investigation Ongoing

Louisiana State Police have been requested to assist in the investigation. Authorities are asking the public to provide any videos, photos, or information that may help reconstruct the timeline of events.

Officials from the governor’s office and U.S. House leadership also issued statements expressing condolences and support for law enforcement.

The investigation remains active as officials work to determine the full circumstances behind what is now considered one of the deadliest mass shootings in the United States in recent years.
