A Portland firefighter has been arrested after investigators say he uploaded child sexual abuse material using an account linked to a fire station.
Police identified the suspect as 43-year-old Andrew Ligatich, a longtime member of Portland Fire & Rescue. Authorities said the investigation began in August after an online platform reported illegal content.
Detectives traced multiple related accounts to a Portland fire station and ultimately connected the activity to Ligatich, according to a police statement.
Ligatich turned himself in Monday morning and was booked into the Multnomah County Detention Center. He faces charges including encouraging child sexual abuse and using a child in sexually explicit material.
Officials said Ligatich has been employed with the fire bureau since 2004 and was placed on paid leave last summer after the agency was notified of the investigation.
Portland Fire & Rescue said it is monitoring the situation and may conduct its own internal review depending on the outcome of the case.
The investigation remains ongoing.
