A 38-year-old man has been arrested after authorities say he fired multiple gunshots at a woman near Tenmile Lake late Monday night.
According to the Coos County Sheriff’s Office, deputies responded around 10:55 p.m. on April 20 after reports of a woman screaming in the Lakeside area, near a local library. When deputies, along with Oregon State Police, arrived at the scene, they located both individuals at the Tenmile Lake County boat ramp.
Investigators say the suspect, identified as Kai Dendy, allegedly fired a weapon several times during the incident. Authorities also believe he may have been under the influence of methamphetamine at the time.
A K9 unit named Poe alerted deputies to Dendy’s vehicle, leading to a search warrant. During the search, officers reportedly recovered two pistols, a large knife, a small quantity of meth, and drug paraphernalia.
Dendy was taken into custody and is facing multiple serious charges, including attempted murder, kidnapping, unlawful use of a weapon, domestic assault, strangulation, and being a felon in possession of a firearm, among others.
Jail records show he remained in custody at the Coos County Jail as of April 21.
