Motorcycle Rider Seriously Injured in Late-Night Crash
A hit-and-run crash in Fall Creek, Oregon, left a motorcyclist seriously injured earlier this month, prompting an investigation by the Lane County Sheriff’s Office.
Deputies responded just before midnight on April 5 to a collision at the intersection of Jasper Lowell Road and Pengra Road. Authorities said a car struck the motorcycle and fled the scene, leaving the rider with severe injuries. The victim was transported to a nearby hospital for treatment.
Investigators Track Down Suspect Vehicle
Using debris recovered at the crash site, deputies were able to identify the make and model of the suspect vehicle and began searching for a match in the surrounding area.
After weeks of investigation, deputies located a vehicle matching the description on April 26 at a residence in Fall Creek. The car had been partially concealed under a tarp, raising suspicion.
Arrest Made After Vehicle Identified
Following further investigation, authorities confirmed the vehicle’s involvement in the crash and identified the driver as 60-year-old John Thomas Klinchok.
He was taken into custody and booked into the Lane County Jail on multiple charges, including assault, failure to render aid to an injured person, and driving while suspended.
