A persistent drug offender from Jefferson City has been sentenced to prison for fentanyl possession.

Daimian Smith, 40, was arrested last September after officers went to his house in the 500 block of Broadway Street to pick him up on an active no-bond warrant for possession of a prohibited drug.

When police arrived at Smith’s house, he first refused to answer the door, and an officer saw him through a window hiding stuff in his bedroom. Smith ultimately opened the door and was taken into arrest.

A check of Smith’s bedroom revealed more than 10 mg of fentanyl, a syringe, and a used smoking device.

Smith pled guilty earlier this month to second-degree narcotics trafficking charges. On Tuesday, he received a ten-year prison sentence.
