A mother and father were taken into custody after their 8-month-old child overdosed on fentanyl, according to the Dayton Police Department.

Officers were summoned to a home on Redwood Avenue at 8:15 p.m. on Wednesday following a complaint of an unresponsive person. When police arrived, they discovered the infant unresponsive.

According to authorities, the child was taken to a hospital, where medical personnel discovered that the infant had overdosed on fentanyl. The child is currently in critical but stable condition.

During the investigation, the child’s father reportedly refused to leave the house and was eventually apprehended by SWAT forces Thursday morning.

Both parents have been arrested on accusations of endangering the children.

The investigation is underway.
