A teenager was apprehended by Tucson police last week for his involvement in a deadly crash reported on April 22.

According to police, the 16-year-old child is charged with second-degree murder, criminal damage, and criminal speeding in connection with a crash that killed a 48-year-old man.

The accident occurred near Tucson Boulevard and Forgeus Avenue when a Cadillac, apparently going at excessive speeds, collided with the side of a Hyundai attempting to make a left turn.

The driver of the Hyundai died at the hospital.

According to police, the 16-year-old driver showed no signs of impairment. Excessive speeding was identified as a “major contributing factor” in the crash. Police cited the other driver’s inability to yield when making a left turn as a “secondary factor” in the crash.

The inquiry into the crash is underway.
