UPDATE: The driver, Wayne Max Harden, 53, of the 1800 block of Greene Street, has been identified, as has the stolen vehicle, a Mitsubishi Mirage.

The Richmond County Sheriff’s Office has charged Harden with felony fleeing and attempting to elude, misdemeanor obstruction, driving while suspended, no insurance, unregistered vehicle, altered license plate, and reckless driving.

North Augusta Public Safety will handle the relevant charges against Harden.

ORIGINAL: Two people are currently in arrest following a stolen vehicle pursuit involving the North Augusta Department of Public Safety and the Richmond County Sheriff’s Office.

According to authorities, the NADPS was involved in the stolen car pursuit that led into Richmond County, where RCSO units joined the chase as it traveled through West Augusta and onto I-20 Westbound.

Authorities say the car was successfully halted when deputies did a PIT maneuver near mile marker 198 on I-20 westbound.
