A woman is dead, and three suspects are in arrest following a shooting on Saturday morning.
Around 8:20 a.m., officers from the Columbus Division of Police responded to a complaint of shots fired in the 5400 block of Malibu Drive, according to our news partners WBNS-10 TV.
While responding, they were directed to the 100 block of Elmsbury Court, where they found a woman suffering from gunshot wounds.
According to WBNS-10 TV, medics transferred the girl to a neighboring hospital, where she eventually died from her injuries. Her identity has been withheld pending notification of next of kin.
The accused were identified as Renan Castro-Gil, 35, Jose Castro-Martinez, 19, and Carlos Figueroa-Castro, 18.
WBNS-10 TV uncovered Franklin County Municipal Court records, which show Castro-Gil and the victim had a “turbulent and violent relationship.”
According to papers, after bringing the guys into jail, Figueroa-Castro informed police that Castro-Gil offered him and Castro-Martinez $3,000 each to shoot the woman.
Castro-Gil apparently devised a strategy that included staged vehicles and information of the woman’s location and time of arrival. According to records, he allegedly planned to hide the vehicle used in the shooting.
According to the records, Figueroa-Castro admitted to his involvement in the incident and stated that he was present when the victim was shot.
WBNS-10 TV stated that Castro-Martinez denied his involvement while acknowledging many portions of Figueroa-Castro’s confession.
All three were charged with aggravated murder and are being held at the Franklin County Jail.
