A Cincinnati woman was sentenced for driving the wrong way on Interstate 74 while under the influence in a 2025 incident, according to authorities.

Erin Dowers was convicted of criminal recklessness with a deadly weapon and driving while intoxicated.

After 1 a.m., Indiana State Police receive multiple reports of a driver heading westbound in the eastbound lanes of Interstate 74. According to authorities, a trooper discovered Dowers and utilized a patrol car to immobilize her vehicle.

Dowers, according to Prosecutor Lynn Deddens, was sentenced to 545 days in jail but might be released after 272 days with good-time credit.

She was also ordered to serve one year of probation, perform 40 hours of community service, and give up her driver’s license for a year.
