A teenager was arrested in connection with a case that ABC15 originally reported in April, in which a 15-year-old kid was ambushed and beaten by several individuals at a home party.

“He felt like he was going to die,” said the mother of the Surprise teen, who asked not to be identified for safety reasons.

Police claim they are looking into videos of the attack on April 4th at Sarival Avenue and Greenway Road. They believe the victim was threatened with a gun.

According to police, a teenager was arrested without incident toward the end of April.

Still, it does not provide much consolation to the boy’s mother. Based on the recordings she’s seen and chats she’s had with police, she believes 11 kids attacked her son.

“The faces of the other ones are visibly shown,” she replied. “Because of the fact that there’s no accountability, I feel like these kids feel like they’re invincible.”

Police confirm that multiple people were involved. Surprise Police stated officers have been working hard since the beginning to find everyone involved in the case and hold them accountable.

“Our investigators have a lot of video evidence to go through, but it’s going to be a painstaking task to identify some of those people involved,” Sergeant Rick Hernandez said in April. “They’re working with some of the resources we have within our department, from our Real-Time Information Center Analyst, they’re working with our School Resource Officers.”

Police continue to seek anyone with images or recordings to come forward.

“We’ve got the SMS texts. We have Snapchats. We have all of these films,” Adam Ashby, an attorney with JacksonWhite Law, stated.

Ashby represents the boy who was beaten.

“I also understand that they want to make sure they get it right,” Ashby replied. “In the Gilbert Goons case involving Preston Lord, it took months to arrest these youngsters. So I’m hoping Surprise PD doesn’t say, “I’m sorry, we don’t have enough evidence.”

“It is only by the grace of God, in my opinion, that he was not slain in the same way that Preston Lord was, because there were dozens of children. You have seen the footage. “He’s running for his life,” he explained.

Ashby says he sees serious teen violence incidents in cities around the Valley, and it’s something parents should discuss with their children.

“These assaults must stop. “The only way they’ll stop is if people are held accountable,” Ashby stated.

Following the 15-year-old’s concussion, fractured nose, and bruising, his mother is concerned about public safety.

“I’m quite worried about someone else. “Every time it’s Friday, I think, ‘Oh my God, I hope it doesn’t happen again this weekend,'” she explained. “I see some of the adolescents on social media, and they still carry guns. They’re still showing off their guns on social media, and I’m afraid. I’m frightened it will happen again.”

Surprise Police encourage anyone with information to come forward, including parents and teenagers who may have images or video of the incident.
