A Cleveland man wanted in connection with a fatal shooting in 2021 has been apprehended in Kentucky after almost five years on the run, according to the U.S. Marshals Service.

Robbie Cayson, 37, was arrested Monday afternoon in Louisville by members of the Western Kentucky Fugitive Task Force and the Louisville Metro Fugitive Unit. Cayson was wanted by the Cleveland Division of Police on an aggravated murder charge.

The investigation centers on a gunshot that occurred on September 29, 2021, at Cleveland’s 11700 block of Lenacrave Avenue. Responding authorities discovered two victims with gunshot wounds to the head.

Authorities identified the victims as Diontae Wallace, 35, and Jovana Brown, 33. Wallace died at the scene, while Brown survived her injuries.

Investigators believed Cayson was involved in the shooting and issued a warrant for his arrest in November 2021. The Northern Ohio Violent Fugitive Task Force subsequently adopted the case and spent years pursuing leads regarding his whereabouts.

Recent information indicated Cayson had fled Ohio and was living in Louisville. Authorities discovered and apprehended him in the 1400 block of Hazel Street.

According to the U.S. Marshals Service, Cayson allegedly provided a false name when officers attempted to arrest him in an effort to avoid identification.

He is expected to face extradition to Ohio to answer the aggravated murder charge.
