A Toledo man was taken into custody on Wednesday after allegedly shooting at a vehicle transporting children in downtown Toledo in May.

Da’Navion Neal, 24, was arrested on accusations of felony assault, having weapons under disability, discharging a firearm on or near a prohibited premises, and carrying concealed weapons.

According to police reports, approximately 6:30 p.m. on May 12, Neal was on the east side of Cherry Street near the Greenbelt Apartments when he shot a semiautomatic pistol at and struck an SUV going north on Cherry.

The SUV was filled with two adults, ages 19 and 26, and three children, ages 12, 5, and one.

According to investigators, the department’s ShotSpotter system detected approximately 10 bullets being fired from the area surrounding the apartment complex.

Investigators claim they recognized Neal using surveillance camera footage.

Neal was in court on Thursday, and his bond was set at $350,000.

He is set to appear in court again on June 11.
