A 21-year-old man wanted on felony charges was apprehended Saturday night in Lemmon Valley after deputies from the Washoe County Sheriff’s Office claimed he hit a patrol car and attempted to flee.

Deputies found Travis Cole Aney at 9 p.m. on June 6, 2026, near Pan American Drive and Terra Court. According to the sheriff’s office, Aney was wanted on felony charges, had previously been identified in a petit larceny investigation, and had fled a traffic stop earlier that day.

According to deputies, Aney was driving without headlights and turned them on after seeing a sheriff’s patrol vehicle. Deputies claimed he then accelerated towards the deputy’s car, failed to stop, and veered in front of the patrol unit, striking the police vehicle’s left front and colliding with Aney’s vehicle’s right side.

Additional units responded and utilised patrol cars to pin down Aney’s vehicle, preventing further movement, according to the sheriff’s office. Deputies said Aney tried to flee by speeding and spinning the vehicle’s tyres even after it was trapped.

Deputies gave Aney verbal directions, and he was arrested without incident, according to the sheriff’s office.

Aney was transported to the Washoe County Detention Facility and booked on multiple charges, including two counts of driver evade, elude, or fail to stop on the signal of a peace officer, endangering another person or property; possession of a controlled substance; resist public officer with the use of a dangerous weapon other than a firearm; and felony arrest for violation of a condition of parole; attempt to destroy or injure real or personal property of another, value $5,000 or greater.

One deputy received treatment for minor injuries sustained during the crash.
