Police are still investigating the death of an 18-year-old Cumberland resident.
On Monday, police identified the teenager as Angelina Rocha.
Police said they were called to a home on E. Barrows Street early Saturday morning after receiving a complaint of an unresponsive female.
After discovering Rocha’s death, Cumberland and Rhode Island State Police detectives spent the day collecting evidence at his residence.
While the cause of her death is unknown, authorities claimed it was strange. There have been no arrests made at this time.
Chief Matthew Benson extended his condolences to Rocha’s family and friends.
“This was a tragic circumstance, and the investigation is still ongoing,” he stated in a news release. “I’d like to thank Colonel Weaver and the members of the Rhode Island State Police crime scene unit for their assistance over the weekend.”
