A woman was taken into custody Tuesday for allegedly abusing a duck on the Las Vegas Strip, according to an arrest report.

Destiny Reyes, 29, was charged with willful or malicious mistreatment of an animal, according to arrest documents.

In a report obtained by News 3, Las Vegas Metropolitan Police stated that they received a report from a Venetian Resort security officer regarding a lady pulling a duck from the fountain.

Hotel security monitored her via video surveillance and reported that she was “tossing” the duck back and forth.

Officers spoke with the woman, later identified as Reyes, but she refused to cooperate. They detained her and took the duck, which appeared to have been injured on its right wing.

A detective from the LVMPD’s animal cruelty unit responded and inspected the security footage. The detective observed Reyes throwing the duck, holding it, shaking it back and forth, dumping it on the ground, slapping it, and causing its wings to spread.

The Nevada Department of Wildlife assisted LVMPD in identifying the duck as a juvenile/baby designated “Daffy” in the report.Destiny showed no remorse or care for ‘Daffy,'” the complaint adds. She removed this [animal] from her natural habitat and subjected her to unnecessary stress and anguish. When authorities saw ‘Daffy’, she was shaking and her wing was too painful to touch.”

According to court documents, Reyes is being jailed on $6,000 bail. The hearing is planned for Monday, June 15.
