Two people were apprehended after a trespass complaint at Walmart in the Town of Cortlandville back on June 17, according to the Cortland County Sheriff’s Office.
Officers arrived at the store about 5:14 p.m. after receiving a report of a subject who was reportedly on the property despite having previously been forbidden from the business.
According to the Sheriff’s Office, officers discovered 43-year-old Mandie J. Willis, who was identified as homeless, inside the store after previously trespassing on the premises. Willis was taken into arrest, and officers discovered she had two outstanding bench warrants from the sheriff’s office.
Willis was charged with third-degree criminal trespass, a misdemeanor; third-degree aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle, a misdemeanor; and driving without insurance, a violation.
During the investigation, investigators came across 55-year-old Norman F. Fink of Cherry Street, Ithaca. Authorities said Fink was found in possession of a controlled substance and charged with seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, a misdemeanor.
Both individuals were taken to the Cortland County Sheriff’s Office for processing.
Fink was given an appearance ticket and released. Willis is due to appear in Cortlandville Town Court for arraignment on June 29 at 1 p.m. and was also given appearance tickets for the new charges. She is set to appear in Cortlandville Town Court on June 29. Following processing, Willis was arraigned under the Centralized Arraignment Process on the outstanding bench warrants and committed to the Cortland County Jail without bail.
