Florida Highway Patrol troopers detained a teenager accused of causing a crash that killed a woman in Marion County near the Silver Springs Shores community.

On Friday, De’Shawn Williams, 18, of Ocala, was released from Marion County Jail after posting a $35,000 bond. He was detained two days ago on allegations of vehicular homicide and careless driving.

According to state troopers, Williams was speeding at 90 mph on Pine Road approaching Hemlock Road, which is a 30 mph zone, when he collided with another automobile driving through the junction. Williams’ automobile then struck a power post and a metal fence.

The other automobile moved to the shoulder. A 48-year-old Ocala woman was ejected from the vehicle and killed on the scene. The driver, a 38-year-old Ocala male, sustained serious injuries.
