A man has been taken into custody after allegedly being impaired when he caused a crash that killed another person, the Mesa Police Department said.
Officers responded to a crash involving two vehicles near Recker Road and Main Street on Friday around 9:30 a.m. Ceasar Miguel Zavala-Sosa ran a red light and collided with another vehicle, according to authorities. The driver of the second vehicle was transported to a hospital and later died.
The investigators stated that impairment played a role in the incident. They arrested Zavala-Sosa on a single count of manslaughter.
The victim has not been publicly identified.
