A California man taken into custody in connection with a dog attack that left a 12-year-old boy dead is expected to appear in court Monday.
Authorities say two of Kenneth Dobbins’ off-leash dogs chased Fernando Torres Moreno through a park in California City. The child attempted to flee by running into a lake but perished.
Deputies from Los Angeles County later apprehended Dobbins in Lancaster. The 68-year-old is facing charges of involuntary manslaughter and negligent ownership. He is being incarcerated in a Kern County jail.
A GoFundMe page established to assist the boy’s family with funeral expenses has received more than $20,000.
The case is still under investigation.
