Chicago carjacking charges
On Sunday, Chicago police arrested Trevail Tyree, 35, and William Tanksley, 38.
Around 3 p.m., the two men allegedly took a vehicle from a 23-year-old man at gunpoint in the 900 block of North Central Park Avenue. The two were apprehended roughly three hours later in the same block. Police reported that a gun was fired during the incident, but no one was injured.
Both men were charged with two felony counts of aggravated vehicular hijacking with a firearm, and Tanksley is also facing one felony count of manufacturing/delivering between 10 and 30 grams of cannabis.
Tanksley has been arrested nine times in Chicago since 2014, including for aggravated assault of a peace officer.
Tyree was arrested in 2024 on heroin-related allegations.
Tanksley and Tyree were due to appear in Cook County court today for a detention hearing.
