RENO, Nev. — Multiple fire crews responded Saturday evening to a brush fire near Truckee Meadows Community College on Dandini Boulevard.
Reports of the fire first came in around 10 p.m. The fire allegedly sparked in a neighborhood near the college campus. According to reports made to police and fire crews, illegal fireworks potentially caused the fire. Police are investigating.
The fire burned about half an acre.
No injuries were reported, and no structures were lost.
A viewer sent News 4-FOX 11 this video, describing that she and her partner were watching the University of Nevada, Reno’s drone show from a North Reno hill when people beside them launched illegal fireworks. She then says the people who launched the fireworks ran off once a fire sparked and ignited on brush.
It is unknown if this is the exact cause and whether these are the suspects behind the brush fire in this location, but we have reached out to law enforcement for more details.
