A wanted couple was taken into custody in Coral Springs after being accused of embezzling over $180,000 from a construction company over several years.

According to Hallandale Police Department records, Oral Ollivierre, 39, and Sandra Permaul, 41, of Hallandale Beach, were both charged with first-degree grand theft after a protracted investigation into their participation in embezzling funds from a Hallandale Beach construction company.

According to the report, the owner discovered considerable missing monies within the business, which prompted an investigation.

The owner told detectives that he hired Permaul around 2017 and that she was eventually elevated to office manager, responsible for issuing checks, paying staff and vendors, and managing the company’s finances.

Detectives claimed the owner later realized Permaul had allegedly abused her position of trust by writing improper company checks to herself and taking funds from business accounts without permission.

Bank documents obtained through subpoenas allegedly revealed that Permaul paid herself checks totaling $64,700 from one company account and $42,052 from another. According to the complaint, investigators learned she withdrew approximately $113,700 in cash from corporate accounts.

The investigation also identified Ollivierre as a co-defendant who earned $21,490 in business checks despite the victim’s claim that he had never worked for the construction company. Detectives further say that business monies were used to cover approximately $736 of Ollivierre’s personal Florida Power & Light energy bills.

The firm owner stated to investigators that he never authorized Ollivierre to accept company monies, possess corporate checks, or make financial decisions on the company’s behalf.

Ollivierre and Permaul were detained at a home in Coral Springs at the 5600 block of Riverside Drive and sent to the Broward County Main Jail.
